A Few Fun Facts
Gaillac, known for its vineyards and hilly landscapes
Gaillac (81600), located in Tarn, is known as a wine region that you should definitely visit. Personally, I think the most beautiful season is from July to the end of September. During this period, you can see the grapevines in full bloom. Beautiful, lush green leaves with large, tightly packed clusters of white and red grapes hidden beneath them. A delight to look at. A visit to a local wine cellar or vineyard with home sales is the perfect way to complete the trip.
The old town center of Gaillac with its courtyards is also worth visiting. You can enjoy a drink on a terrace with a glass of local wine or a “perroquet” (pastis with menthol syrup and water), before heading to one of the cozy bistros or restaurants at ‘Place de la Libération’.

Cordes sur Ciel, with its historic center on the hill and panoramic views
Cordes sur Ciel, a must-see. Narrow streets and steep cobblestone paths within a walled area take you back in time. It is well known to most people as a place for artists and creatives. You’ll find charmingly decorated shops of all kinds.
There are specialized boutiques selling local products, with the smells greeting you as you walk down the street. For those who aren’t as mobile, because it is quite a climb, there is a small train available in the summer months that, for a fee, will take you to the top. From there, you can slowly walk and shop your way back down.
